Poem Analysis
The poem explains what happens to a dream ignored. The dream is ignored and rejected for so long that we start to believe that it may never happen. The dream sits there for days, months or even years and almost becomes forgotten because of the way that we reject it and lose faith. This poem was the perfect opening for the play, Raisin in the Sun, because it explains the Younger families' lose of faith after they lose the money. They start to believe that their race or gender may hold them back and began to forget about the dreams they once valued.
